Cleaning and Care for Titleist Golf Clubs

Titleist drivers, fairways, hybrids, irons and wedges can be cleaned with mild soap and water and then dried with a soft cotton cloth. We recommend your clubs and headcover be completely dry before storage. Storing clubs in wet headcovers can lead to rust and corrosion and may not be covered by the warranty.
  3. People who clank while walking down a fairway have no golf etiquette. You aren't the only on the course. Get a bag that prevents clanking or use headcovers.

Guess you have never been to a tour event. I have worked as a marshal for numerous events, at the old Nationwide, the Sr Pga, Pga and LPGA. The clubs do clang when the caddies are carrying them and those guys do have the utmost golf etiquette. Have been playing for 35 years and have neve used iron headcovers and my clubs always look good because I do take good care of them and do not keep them for ten years. Those who care about their clubs take care of their clubs in their own ways. With respect to all opinions.
  5. I personally use them since I keep my clubs in the car but I care about 10 rounds I lost the 3 and 4 covers and they never got turned in. I always dry my clubs and have never had a rust issue but only had them a few months now. Can the covers actually damage the clubs?

I bought some iron covers when I got my Concepts, but never opened them. I will definitely use them the next time I fly though, I had to have my 3 would refinished because of a dent I got the last time I flew.
  7. Iron covers not for me but they do keep them looking nice, my irons were all marked up after 3/4 rounds of golf. Upset me at first by I’m use to them not looking shiney and new
After all they are tools to be used

I used iron covers for a while, but it detracted from my pace and tempo. I stopped using them.

FWIW, playing out of bunkers does more damage to irons than clanking around in the bag.
  9. I only use iron covers when I store them; It makes the top of the bag to clustered for me when I play.

The hard part for me was finding covers that look good. I saw these iron covers on Instagram; I want them so bad!

NO, they stop everyone seeing those beautiful irons.

To the players that use iron covers to protect the heads - do you wrap the head in cotton wool and place the ball on foam before playing from the ground?

If not, the head covers are pretty pointless as they are not protecting the head when it is most susceptible to damage. They stop the clanging when carrying but placing your hand on your irons whilst walking does that.
  12. 100% personal preference! I recently sold my AP2s to a shocked buyer who had looked for some time and hadn’t seen a set of 716s in such great shape. Because of the limited amount of unnecessary damage from club chatter due to the covers I use, I was able to sell them at a substantially higher price. This allowed me to upgrade to my T100s earlier than I would have been able to if I hadn’t used covers. I only wish Titleist would make covers for their irons. I know so many people who would buy them from Titleist even if it was only for travel. Many people who don’t use them simply don’t like aftermarket covers. If Titleist designs covers for alignment sticks (which I own), I see an even greater market for iron covers. Alignment stick covers aren’t to protect one’s investment, it is to acknowledge our allegiance to Titleist. I strongly disagree that covers slow play....slow players slow play! Whether it is for protection or brand allegiance, I strongly encourage Titleist to develop OEM iron covers for a season and evaluate their popularity. Personally, I think you will be surprised by the number of Titleist owners who will purchase them.
  13. I purchased some covers to use after I ordered a custom fit set t200’s just to try and keep them looking new. However I couldn’t get used to them on the course, I was either forgetting where I put them or they was falling off the trolley so now only really use them for travelling or when my clubs are being stored at home

  14. Adam,

I have used headcovers for years. I have miz MP-59's. When I bought them, miz noted to be careful of putting covers on wet irons. I have some leather iron covers from Clubshields (www.krucel.com). I do not work for them, nor do I get any sort of commission. I am just a very satisfied customer. They are expensive, but last and last, and look great! The iron covers are "open" so they do a great job of protecting, while allowing air to get in to keep them dry.

I'm definitly in the no iron headcover camp. I like to show off my MB's as they are an awesome looking club and sparkle when the sun shines on them

Have never used them and have not intentions have putting them on my irons. I use my irons for maybe a couple of cycles and sell them for top dollar because they are in great shape. If you are reckless with your clubs and do not take good care of them, then may you should use them. I take pride in mine and frankly I think the iron covers are not the most desirable looking gimmick I have seen. See a lot of them in the lost and found bucket in the pro shop. With respect.

I don't, because I just like the look of the irons being unsheathed in the bag. That being said, I have a set of iron covers that I bought years ago and with a set of T200s on order, they're probably resurfacing just because. I've got a buddy that says "Tools, not jewels" and to a certain extent, I understand that, but with a brand new set, I'm probably going to use them for a while now anyway.

    Otherwise, do what you feel!

I use iron covers and I don’t slow down play. I have time to wipe down my club and put the cover back on while I am waiting for my playing partners to hit their shots, since most of them don’t understand the concept of getting ready to hit their shot while others are hitting.

I like the iron covers. make sure you clean them at the time you clean your clubs. Dirt and sand can scratch your clubs, even if you clean your irons after ezch shot. I take pride in my Titleist equipment.

Not a fan or iron headcover. The clubs are too beautiful to be covered and they can last long anyway

With the rust argument, I put covers on the irons when I play to stop them hitting of each other and damaging the heads during the round and transport but then when I get in I remove the covers while they are stationary in the spare room in case any trapped moisture could cause rust - and wipe them down of cause!
