  1. Hey Bob,

Im very excited to try out your new SM8 wedges, they look awesome. I have 2 questions for you.

Do you ever see yourself doing a wedge in the old copper finish or oil can look.

I was planning on going for a new full bag Titleist fitting. I was wondering when it comes to the pitch and gap wedge is it better to stick with the wedges that come in the iorn series that the fitter sets me up with, or deduct those clubs and do them with the SM8s. Thus having 4 of your SM8s in my bag. Is there PRO and CON in this situation?

  2. Hey Bob-O, are there perks for using a 48 degree vokey vs a cavity back wedge from a iron set. Is there significant drop off from foregiveness to better ball control?

Keep doin what you do for all golf lovers out there
  3. Why is a 64 degree not made standard in every series? I love my Spin Milled 64, and was lucky enough to get a SM7 64T, but it would great if these were standard in every series.

    Cheers,
    Brady

    Mr. Vokey,
I would like your opinion on replacing the pitching wedge from my set of Titleist muscleback irons with a lower loft SM8 Vokey wedge. I love my irons but also love your wedges. I would also like to know if you would recommend putting the same shaft in all of my wedges that are in my irons, S400 Dynamic Gold?
    Really admire your work!
    Thanks.

The wait is over. SM8 is officially available in golf shops!

Talk about a hot start. SM8 has been the worst kept secret with record-setting adoption on the PGA TOUR, European Tour, and Korn Ferry. In its first 12 TOUR events, SM8 has already brought home 7 titles. 48% of the wedges at this week’s Bay Hill Invitational are Vokey Design and last week 57% of wedges in play at the Honda Classic were Vokey, including the winner: Sungjae Im.

So what exactly is this secret sauce that has SM8 making so much noise on tours? For starters, you can find a lot of great SM8 insights on the Vokey website. But what better way to learn about SM8 than asking the man himself?

Please submit your SM8 questions below and we'll have Bob Vokey dive in to answer your questions on Wednesday, March 11th.

I am also a junior golfer and have played many different wedges from junior sets and am trying to get a set of full length wedges. What would you say the most important thing about getting fit for wedges.
  8. What are the design/specification differences (if any) between the “D” grind and the “V” grind?
  9. What wedge and specifications would you recommend for a bump and run shot?
  10. How can you improve year after year on the best wedge in the game?

  12. What would be your recommended grind/bounce options for people who play a variety of conditions? I want to be versatile with my wedges.

Is there any advantage to switching from steel wedge flex to graphite shafts on my 56° and 60° wedges?

When looking at wedges, should I look to match the same shaft and lies as my T200s or are they different for wedges?

I have always matched my irons and wedges however I don’t know if that correct.

I like all my Vokey wedges the same length as my pitching wedge. Do I need to ask for any specific adjustments to 48, 54 and 58 wedges for them to perform as intended ?

With the focus on CG in the design of the wedges, if you grind the heel to allow better contact potential on tight lies, can too much grinding adversely impact CG?

The short answer, we don’t worry about a bit of heel relief impacting the CG location. If you place a HandGround wedge order, we try to remove as little material as possible to get at the performance you want.

In order to really make a difference in CG, a lot of material needs to be removed. So, the HandGround effort won’t impact CG and the flight performance that comes from CG.

Progressive Center of Gravity is something unique to Vokey Wedges. With SM8, not only do we offer Progressive Center of Gravity, but we now push it forward of the face to improve the technology and performance. We build on our technology each model cycle, and building on the technology of SM6, SM7 really helps us.

We can only do this because of the hard work of our entire team. Aaron (@VokeyWedgeRep) really hustles out on Tour. We have reps in Japan (@VokeyWedgeRepJPN) and Korea that work just as hard and provide us with feedback. We learn so much from the worldwide tours. This of course is all built alongside our grinds, and Spin Milled Grooves.
