Great question...and very hard to answer.
Hailing from Scotland, I've had the pleasure of spending much time playing at home.
I have played many of the top 100, both in Scotland and the USA. And also found many great courses not on the experts lists, that were incredible!!

Listing the top 5 is a seemingly impossible task and could change depending on the recall of memories at each.

Like so many of the others, it's hard to rank order "the best." When you get into that rare air, it's like "the best" is a categroy, and not a rank order.

With that in mind my five, in no particular order, are:
- Pebble Beach
- Spyglass
- Pasatiempo
- PGA West Stadium
- Torrey Pines South

That group of five might change after next year's trip to Scotland.

Have to slide Bulls Bay Golf Club in there somewhere. One of my very favorites in the Charleston area. Members only club. Under new ownership, Darius Rucker.
