New Titleist TSR Driver Reviews (Official Discussion)

How much do the TSR drivers cost? I have to put up $100 immediately to book a fitting. That can count towards an order, but I have no idea how much they are. Thanks!

Currently hitting the tsi2 9 deg and it’s been my favorite driver I’ve ever had. Had a fitting and hit the tsr 2 & 3 with multiple shafts and my preferred ball do dial it in. Ended up with the TSR2 and some ball speeds I’ve never touched. Chase Wood Is the best fitter I’ve ever worked with. Fired up to get this thing in play.

Had my fitting yesterday and it was everything I could hope for and then some! We ended up settling on a TSR 3 8* and Tensei 1K Black. The dispersion with this combination was a dream coming from a TM SLDR. I wasn’t swinging the best but we still were able to get a tight dispersion. Overall super happy with the club and can’t wait to get it in my hands!

I was also fitted yesterday into the Tensei 1K black. Just wondering if you tried several shafts and ended up with this one or multiple ones first. It was the second shaft I tried and ended up with it without trying any other and now I'm concerned that I didn't get fit very well. I will say that all my numbers were in the middle of the trackman band of desirable numbers and my smash factor was 1.49 so almost the best ball speed I could have gotten for my swing speed. Also wanted to ask what kind of ball flight you got. On the website it says the 1K black is a low launch low spin shaft that is the stoutest of the 1K lineup. I basically was launching it higher than I have almost anything in the past few years( which honestly was a good thing). I guess I just wanted your experience on the shaft and was just kind of second guessing my experience even though like i said my numbers were pretty good with it.

I tried a couple different variations in head (TSR3/TSR2) and lofts in the same shaft. Then we tried the HZRDUS, I don’t know what color though. That didn’t end up working well but overall happy with my fitting. There were multiple different shafts there but for where my game is currently at I think it’s the right choice.

I'm just curious, and wanted to get people's thoughts. Who is the TSR4 driver for?

Higher swing speeds & anyone that really needs to keep their spin numbers down

My "regular" fitter that I've worked with for the past 4 years was going to charge me $125 for a fitting??? Huh? What happened to "Titleist Thursdays?" Does the free fitting not exist anymore?? Just curious as this cost is kind of outrageous for 30 min of fitting time.

They changed their Titleist Thursday model from free to charging $100 per session that can be applied as credit towards a same day purchase. That change happened sometime in the spring of 2020, I believe.

I attended a private fitting event at Galloway National Golf Club a couple days ago. Glenn Freeden, the Titleist product specialist, introduced himself and asked what I was looking for. I explained that I currently play a TSI 3 but that my swing has been somewhat of a mess and therefore wanted to try the TSR2. The TSR2 head suited my eye much better than the prior generation TSI2. Specifically, the face didn't appear closed and it wasn't as elongated in the back.

I hit some balls with my current TSI 3 which didn't take long to confirm that I needed more forgiveness. We also needed something that launched higher than my current Hzrdus Smoke RDX, largely due to my angle of attack. We worked through a variety of shafts including the Tensei Black, Graphite Design Tour AD UB, Drago, and Ventus Red. My swing was embarrassingly bad that day but Glenn remained positive, professional and patient. In the end we landed on the TSR2 with the Ventus Red 6. That combination helped give me the added forgiveness and launch i needed, particularly during one of my worst performing days. Glenn further reassured me that as I continue to work on my swing that we can make adjustments to the setup (ordered in 10 degree head with C3 Surefit setting) to complement my swing changes. That, of course, is important to hear when you are making an investment such as this.

I strongly suggest checking out the new TSR's. The heads are beautiful and the vast array of shafts in the lineup are really impressive.

I just got fit for the new TSR4 which was my fitter's recommendation. As I do more research I see that the TSR2 is the most forgiving of the bunch and went in thinking that would be the best driver for me. I'm a 25 handicap and hit my driver around 240-260 if I "pure" it. I struggle with an inside-to-out swing path which as you can imagine, I'm pushing my drives right.

I see the TSR4 is the lowest spinning driver and everything I see is pretty much saying "if you hit it center of the club, it'll go a mile", but my fear is that the TSR4 will only exacerbate my push-fade/slice. Is the TSR4 right for me?

In discussions with Titleist officials, they noted there is a niche for the TSR-4 that you appear to qualify. Due to the tendency to spin slower, the -4 can limit the side spin and reduce a moonshot to an adjoining fairway to something closer to the one you are playing.

Your fitter must have seen something that the 4 can help you with. This would have been a good question for him at the fitting.

As noted I was one of the lucky ones that got to do a fitting early. I got the driver last week. I played Friday and Saturday. I got the TSR2 going from TSi3. Club looks great behind the ball. The changes Titleist made were perfect for the TSR2. It's definitely longer than TSi, not by leaps and bounds but longer. Where I really notice the difference is on miss hits. I hit one really low on the face Friday expecting it to be miles short only to find it was one more club than usual. That's huge.

I keep saying for me, it's about the miss-hits. When it's flushed they are all out there but how well do my miss-hits benefit me? With TSR, those miss hits still created scoring chances. It's put a club to the good for me in terms of distance.

The new Tensei Blue is a different feel. A little stiffer over the same flex feeling but my east or west miss is really narrow. Lack of a better word, the new TSR is a point and shoot club. It's goes where I am lined up pretty much, very straight and forgiving.

All in all, so happy with going to TSR. I'll take the extra distance but more excited that my miss-hits are still scoring chances and not playing for Par.

To everyone at Titleist involved with new TSR, and at the company, fantastic work. No wonder that touring pros are switching to TSR.

I was fitted today for the new TSR line. I was coming from a Cobra LTDx with a Project x RDX HZRDUS 6.0 65gram shaft that honestly I just bought off the shelf. I hit it pretty good but just wondered whether I could get more out of being fitted and have always liked Titleist drivers so I thought I would give it a shot.

I started off with a few from my driver and honestly it performed pretty well ( first time I've been on a launch monitor in a long time). Just a little info about my swing, My swing speed throughout was somewhere between 103-105. With my driver I was in all of the trackman desirable green numbers except my spin was on the high end of the spectrum. I was getting upper 250 carry and about 277 or so total.

We started out with the TSR2 and and the Tensei 1K black 65S shaft and again my numbers were all in the green on the trackman but I did get a little more ball speed and my dispersion was pretty good with a little lower coin compared to the Cobra. I also tried the HZRDUS 6.0 65 but it didn't seem to perform or feel quite as good to me.

I then tried the TSR3 and I knew I would get better spin numbers with it but thought that It might lack forgiveness. Well for me at least I actually got quite a bit better dispersion with it than the TSR2. We tried the same 2 shafts and messed around with the length a little but ended up with the TSR3 with Tensei 1K 65S shaft and all other settings on the driver in neutral because I was almost right in the middle of all the trackman numbers. My launch was a little over 13.5 degrees, dynamic loft around 14.2, spin was around 2500 RPM, CHS was 103-105, Ball speed was mid to upper 150s, Carry was averaging low to mid 260s and total was mid 280s with a couple that I hit reached the low 290 range with the total. I just looked at the smash factor on the last 5 or so and everyone was 1.49, so I figured I was getting the most out of my swing speed that I could get. I asked if I should hit some of the upgrade shafts, and my fitter was not against it but he said that I probably was not going to pick up any ball speed and that if anything I might get a slightly better dispersion. My Dispersion was very tight already so I honestly didn't see a need in paying the upcharge for something that I wasn't going to get much out of. So I ended up with TSR3 9.0 degree head in the A1 setting and weight in the middle with a Tensei 1K Black 65S shaft.

Overall, I was pretty happy, I only gained about 7 or 8 yards total from my Cobra ( But like I said it is new and I was hitting it well also) but My dispersion was probably a little better also with the titleist. I also learned the perfect tee height during the fitting to get the perfect ball flight and numbers. If I teed the TSR3 up a little bit it was seeming to get the best numbers overall. The only thing I was disappointed in with the fitting was not hitting more shafts just for peace of mind and not messing around with any of the settings. Like I said earlier though, I was almost in the middle of all the trackman numbers so it could have just worked out that I found the best combo early on. I just always come away feeling like there is some trickery in these fittings, I don't know. Does anyone else ever feel this way? Can't wait to get the driver though.

Played 6 rounds so far and these are definitely faster than my TSI models. I had a great fitting and Allan and Jake were really great at letting me go back and forth between my previous Titleist and the TSR. These things are great and the ball speed improvement for me makes all the distance. I can’t wait for the hybrid release.

I went to a titleist fitting yesterday. I’m currently playing tsi3 with the Ventus tr blue in the driver. Stock tsi2 in 3 and 5 wood. I ran the the 2,3and 4 R drivers and seemed to hit the 3 and 4 well. The 4 was just dead straight for me but I hit the 3 a little farther with better spin numbers. Ran through a few different shaft options, but nothing fit better than my ventus TR. I ended up ordering the TSR3 in 8 degree head and I’ll just keep using the Ventura shaft I already have.
I hit the fairway woods, but just didn’t make any swings I felt were good enough to give me accurate data to make a decision on at the time.

What would you say you're swing speed is? I know that's definitely not the only thing that goes into it, but I was kind of looking at the Ventus blue myself. Have you seemed to have more of a mid ball flight. Thanks for the answers

My swing speed was about 116 during the fitting. I played the Ventus blue 6x for about 6 months until the TR blue came out and then I switched to that. The stiffer butt section of the ventus tr made a noticeable difference in my dispersion vs the original velocore blue. I tested the black but it was a little low launch for me. For reference my launch numbers were around 12.5 degrees at the tsr fitting.
I just got my TSR3 today and took it to the range. After more time with it, it does seem to launch a little higher than my tsi3 with all the same weight and hosel settings. Could have just been how I was swinging today. I may play around with the hosel and see what lowering the loft the does.

Are you saying they just sold you a head with no shaft. Didn't think that was allowed?

No they sold me a driver with a stock shaft. The tensei black. The fitter just said the shaft I was currently using was producing the best numbers.

Whoa! I participated in the exclusive preview at Cantigny Golf this morning. After testing, the TSR3 with Ventus Red 6 (Velocore) was the best setup. The new TSR drivers are aerodynamically sleeker and feel solid at impact compared to my TSi2. Thanks, Team Titleist!

I participated in the exclusive preview at Cantigny Golf and was surprised by the TSR technology advancements. I have the TSi2 11° Graphite Design Tour AD DI-6 and tested TSR2, 3, and 4. All models were great, but the best one for me was the TSR3 11° Fujikura Ventus Red 6. My ball speed increased and shot dispersion improved, and I think the TSR3 feels better at impact. My Instagram post has a few pictures from an incredible day. I'll see Yosh again next month to test the TSR FW.

My shot dispersion was very tight with the TSR4 and all over the place with the TSR2.

The Ventus allows me more feel of the club head in space and significantly cuts down dispersion on miss hits compared to the Tour AD IZ 6X.

I enjoy the smaller club head, for me smaller club heads equal better ball striking. I guess mentally if its a big fat game improvement head I don't focus in as much as a small compact blade. In several testing sessions with the 2021 and now 2023 T series irons, I was getting better numbers with the 620 MB. (I by no means am a good golfer, playing off a 15 handicap).

Testing many different drivers from friends trying to fit in their own new drivers, nothing beats TSR. I think the Cobra's perform really, really well, but I do not like the look and sound of the Cobra heads. Nothing seems to fit like TSR.

I was really impressed, and I mean it!, last week when I was fitted about how much more ball speed I was able to get with the new TSR metal woods. I especially like the new TSR3...for the first time I was fit into that model, all the prior fittings in years past I have gone into the 2 model.

Got fit by Justin Bulcock at Iron Horse (Kansas City area) today! Amazing experience! TSR2 for me, driver and 3 wood!!

All I can say is get fit.. Get fit by a Titleist professional, outdoors ad using Pro V1's or X's. The numbesgain were significant and well worth the price, tech costs!

Had my TT fitting today. As usual, it was eye opening. After we normalized my gamer, it was on to fitting the driver. Initially, I struggled to find my swing, especially since we were on the mat and rubber tee due to the weather. But after I got grooved in, the numbers were pretty impressive: +5 carry, +10-12 total.

The 3 wood was a problem, and it's because I've always had a mental block hitting 3 wood off the deck. Gaming a 16.5 TSi2 and was struggling with that. The TSR2 16.5 didn't show any gains, so we went to a 15 with a 1/2 inch short shaft (4 wood shaft). The ones that I did hit well, I saw +10 total. But that was far and few between. Most of them were fatties that were worthless. If anything, it'll be nice to hit a 15 vs 16.5 off the tee on shorter par 4s. The 7 wood was a bomb! +20 vs my TSi2. I was hitting the new 7 wood almost as far as my current 4 wood.

I really need to get over my mental block and mechanics with the 3 wood. Then I might be able to reach some par 5s...

I hit all three but the TSR3 10 degree with Tensei Blue 55R +6 grams and 1 inch short produced a great dispersion pattern. Very tight with the same ball speed and distance of the standard length shaft. Thanks Joey! Looking forward to putting it in play.
