richbow9Huddersfield,
I've not seen the SM6's yet unfortunately. For me the loft on the gap wedge depends on the loft of your PW, as you tend to take more full shots with a GW than say a LW, therefore I find that gapping is more critical. My PW is 45/46 and my gw is 52, which is too big of a gap for me. So I'm also in the market for a 50. My sw is 56 and low is 60 which I will keep

I agree 100% with you... and I also am a big proponent of getting properly fit and measured in this case to find out precise distance gaps as like you said your gap wedge is typically utilized for full shots. I currently play a new set of 716 AP2's so Like you, my PW is 46*... and I think I am going to probably go down from a 52* to a 50*. This will ultimately be decided though after hitting them and zeroing in specific distances!

I also can't wait for the new SM6 Vokeys! I got fit for mine a few years ago and just replace the wedges in the same specs that I have. I would recommend getting fit for the wedges if you have not done so.

If you have forged clubs you can get them bent to what you want. take the 52 degree and get it bent to a 50 degree. then see if that gives you what you want before you just go and buy a new 50 degree club

I have not seen the sm6's either. I have a gap between my PW (44 degree ) and my gap wedge (52 degree). I just got a 48 degree Vokey SM5 for Christmas but have not tried it yet. Hopefully on Friday this week if the rain will go away! I also have a SM4 60 degree LW and 54 degree wedge.

I haven't seen the SM6 yet, but maybe i'll need a new lob wedge...
In reference to your loft question, it all depends on the loft of your PW, there is a tendency now to build PW with 46* of loft, and if that happens you have too much of a gap between 46 and 52, that is why most people are going for 50,54,58 loft configuration. Those are the lofts that I personally use

My current setup is all Vokey SM4 46* (bent from 48*), 50* (bent from 52*), 55* (bent from 56*) and 60*. I will upgrade it all depending on the bounce SM6 will offer.

SM6's look great, hope they come out with custom shafts.
Did you find that bending the club to alter the loft has messed with the bounce of each wedge?
Tyler HAppleton, WI
The bounce will be adjusted the same amount as you adjust loft. For example if you take a 56 degree wedge with 12 degrees of bounce and bend it to 54 degrees it will now have 10 degrees of bounce.
Bent it strong, you'll reducing bounce. Bent it weak, you'll adding bounce.
Agree, and the bending it strong will increase the leading edge as well making it "sharper" or steeper to the turf... whether that is significant enough is up to you.
I am really pumped to try the new "dual muscle" design of the new SM6 Gap wedges.... I wonder how this will help perform on full shots.

Pumped about the dual muscle design as well. Excited to see what it does.

Looking forward to see the combinations BV has for us.

Richard I bent a 60/to 58 and times the club because the leading edge digs to much now. But I play with a 54 that is bent to 52 that is just fine. It all depends on the leading edge if its to sharp there could be a problem.

I wouldn't just jump ahead and say I want added distance so I'm going to get a 50,54 wedge instead of 52,56. You should make this decision truly based on the loft of your Pitching Wedge. If your Pitching Wedge is less than 47 degrees than it might be worth going to the 50,54 set to have a finer gap between your wedge lofts, but if your Pitching Wedge is 47/48 degrees than I would stick with the 52,56 to be more consistent with your lofts.

I'm so glad my days of buying new clubs is behind me.

Kinda unrelated, but they look super sweeeeeeeet!

Id love to see the sm6 line. I haven't yet but i loved the look and playability of the sm5's. I wondered the same thing about the lofts. You typically have or want 4* between your clubs. It looks like the pros have 52 and 56 but who knows what they really have. All their clubs are dialed in. I had 50*,54*, and 58* with my last setup but found i didn't use the 50* all that much, so I don't really wanna deloft my 52* that much. And I love my 56*. I have become a master with it around the greens. It gives me the height I need if i want by opening the face but i can still do a bump and run with it if needed, with a bit of check

Like the look. Straighter leading edge and weight moved higher on the club face to counteract the "dead-zone" areas. Just need to know finishes, grinds and shafts

I really really hope the release black wedges again. I've ALWAYS preferred black wedges. Can't tell you why other than they look good to my eye, but here's to hoping the 6's come in black!
Brian VLong Beach, CA
I play a 52/56 combo, but i'm open to trying a 50/54 setup. I can't wait to see the SM6 line!
Jesse GStillwater, OK
2nd on the favorite grinds for respective lofts. Interested to know everybody's preference!

Hey everyone! I am super excited about the new wedges. I have played Vokeys since I started playing golf and about a year and half ago I deviated to try a different company and have been extremely disappointed in my wedge play since. Nevertheless I can't wait until the SM6s come out so I can get new wedges in the bag. Does anyone know or have expectations on when they should be released to public? Thank you! Elliott Elliot, The new wedges are scheduled to release early next year, they were debuted at the Shriners Hospital Open in Las Vegas last month and they are beautiful. Definitley will look good in your bag!

From what it seems, the SM6s are quite similar to the SM5s, so I'll be sticking with them. I use the 50, 54, 58 setup, and it has worked really well for me compared to when I used to have a 52, 56, 60 set up. It really comes down to what is best for your game anyway. Best of luck!

Haven't had a chance at the 6's but depending on your PW loft - I use (in the the SM5 Tour chrome): PW 46 06 Full, GW 52 08, Full SW/LB 58 09 M.Kinda of a neutral wedge player but depending on the turf conditions I can be a digger...
One thing I am thinking is to get a set of SM4's and bend to 1 degree stronger keeping the bounce as appropriate.
IMHO.. Happy New Year- Cheers.
Matt BColumbus, OH
I keep my PW at 47-48* and have been playing the 54* & 60*. I don't think I will be changing the lofts when the SM6 comes out.

The L Grind looks terrific.
