Thought I'd share some pics of my winter project - raw SM5's. Can't wait for the snow to finally melt so I can get out and play these again!

How did you make them raw?
These were the original raw black wedges, which I loved, but the finish does get scratched up quickly.
Instructions for how to get the truly raw look are below, however be aware that any DIY work such as this will invalidate the Titleist warranty so do it at your own risk. I also hold no responsibility if it goes wrong!
1) Start with some Naval Jelly or similar. Spread all over and leave for 30 minutes or so. Then wash off and go over with some fine steel wool. A lot of the black finish will come off after this process alone.
2) Soak in CLR for at least 3-4 hours . Submerge to just below the ferrule to avoid it getting damaged. You could also put some duct tape around the ferrule for extra protection. After the first soaking in CLR, rinse off in water and go over them with a heavy duty Scotch Brite. This should remove the blotchiness and even out the finish. Then use metal polish and / or Barkeeper's Friend to clean them up further and remove any of the dust and residue left on them.
3) Depending on how they turn out from the first run, repeat the CLR and Scotch Brite process if necessary. The first soaking may not remove all of the finish.
The paint fill will be undamaged by this process. Mine was removed separately.
