Monterey restaurants

I like Louie Linguini's on Cannery Row, Monterey but any on that stretch of Monterey are worth checking out. It's a good break from the Pebble norm. I also like eating in Carmel By The Sea. Bunch of good ones there. Hog's Breath Inn was the one Clint Eastwood used to own.

Absolutely, my wife took me there for my birthday last time we were there and the bouillabaisse that they served was one of the best I have had in California. We stayed at a B&B at Pacific Grove which is a beautiful area along that coast. Nice little muni there, at least the back nine is something to behold. Love the area. Always drive down when we go to San Francisco.

I highly recommend the Monterey Fish House; it's very informal and has a great atmosphere. It can be a bit loud, so I'd categorize it more on the "dive" side of thing versus "white tablecloth."

For breakfast, my group likes Butter House Restaurant in Seaside, CA. Depending on which courses you are playing, it's about a 25 min drive from PB gate, so plan accordingly. If you're a fan of eggs benedict, you need to visit Katy's Place Carmel; they offer a wide selection of eggs benedicts.

Another vote for Louie Linguini's. We also enjoyed The Chart House which is more upmarket. Try to fit lunch in at The Bench at PB if you can.

As I mentioned when you posted in Bucket list, for the last 24 years my wife and I have spent a lot of time on the Monterey Peninsula and have probably eaten at more than 50 restaurants. Everything from inexpensive to fine dining so if you'd like any suggestions I'd be more then happy too.

1. Compagno's Deli And Market - Monterey, they make really good huge sandwich's and desserts.
2. Tommy Wok's - Carmel, Chinese food
3. Bruno's Market And Deli - Carmel
4. Paris Bakery - Monterey

Moderately priced.

1. La Mia Cuncina - Pacific Grove, Italian
2. La Bicyclette - Carmel , Italian French
3. Mission Ranch - Carmel, American Owned by Clint Eastwood and they serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, early
grazing and brunch. They have a really nice outside patio where you can watch the sheep graze in the fields,
look at the mountains. the mountains. If Clint's in town he likes to go there at night.
4. Taste Cafe & Bistro, Pacific Grove, European
5. AW Shucks Cocktail and Oyster Bar - Carmel seafood and lots of different cocktails.
6. Vesuvio - Carmel, Italian and this restaurant has the only rooftop bar in Carmel.
7. SUR at The Barnyard - Carmel
8. GUSTO's handcrafted Pasta & Pizza - Seaside

Can Be Expensive.

1. The Taproom - Pebble Beach, outstanding Prime Rib Chili with cornbread, Kobe Brie Burger with Truffle wedges and Steaks. Also if you like chocolate sundaes there's is one of the best and it's huge. The sundae
comes in a huge martini glass with vanilla bean ice cream, warm bananas, cookie pieces on the bottom and chocolate fudge sauce. This will feed 4 golfers after a meal! This is the only restaurant at Pebble
without a view.
2. Peppoli - Pebble Beach at Spanish Bay, really good Italian food or get the Tomahawk steak and this restaurant has views of the ocean.
3. Flying Fish Grill - Carmel, seafood, asian
4. Passion Fish - Pacific Grove, seafood
5. Whaling Station Steakhouse - Monterey
6. Sardine Factory - Monterey
7. Roy's - Pebble Beach at Spanish Bay, Hawaiian Fusion with views of the ocean
8. Aubergine - Carmel, only has 9 tables and is really expensive

Bars

1. Fieldwork Brewing Company - Monterey
2. The Crown & Anchor - Monterey
3. Brophys Tavern - Carmel, this is where the caddies hangout during the AT&T

Well that's enough for now!

If you like wine there's Staves Wine Cellar at Spanish Bay and I believe that they open at 2pm. There's also some wine tasting rooms in Carmel and wineries in Carmel Valley.


Because you're staying on property you will have access to the Beach Club restaurant which is private and only open certain hours during the day. It overlooks Stillwater Cove and the 17th at PB

There's a Pebble Beach outlet store on Cannery Row which would save some money.

I'm intently watching this thread and appreciate the ideas. Four of us old college friends will be meeting up for a loop around Pebble, Spyglass, and Pasatiempo in July, and will be staying in Carmel a few nights after our two great evenings in the Pebble Beach Lodge. It's great that Carmel has so many choices within walking distance.

Besides the Carmel restaurants that I mentioned above here a a few more in Carmel that we've been to.
It is nice to be able to walk to so many restaurants in Carmel. If you wanted to try Clint's Mission Ranch it's about a mile from town and if you wanted to try SUR At The Barnyard it's about 2 miles from town.
Don't know if you know this but in Carmel there aren't any street addresses at all.
