I usually travel down to Rhode Island a few times during the summer to visit my friend and to play the CC that he works at. I tend to have a lot of free time when he is working.

I am trying to come up with a list of courses to try and play when I am down there. Does anyone have any suggestions? I usually stay in the Providence area.

If price isn't a big thing for you, Newport National is a great track

Try Swansea Country Club in Swansea MA. It is a Geoffrey Cornish course. The course has been improving over the years.

I second Newport National. Lots of fun. There's another track off 24 in Middleton RI that looks cool. I've never played it, but driven by a ton of times.

Rhode Is CC was a great course, if you have the hookup!

The Carnegie-Abbey club is a fun track when it’s firm and fast.

Some of the private clubs take some public play, so you should check out Metacomet, Agawam Hunt, and Pawtucket. Triggs is a Ross course with a great layout that is worth playing but can be spotty with conditioning.

If you can get on RICC its a fun course. Swansea CC is pretty good. Montaup CC is pretty good, last time I was there they were still taking public play. Rehoboth in MA, just over the border, is pretty good but can be crowded. If you can find someone to get you on Barrington CC is fantastic. Exeter over on the west side of the bay is pretty good although usually crowded. There is a 9 hole track in West Barrington or Swansea thats fun for a quick game called the Wampanog. Lived in RI for a few years, you can get to most of these courses, most of the state, pretty quick. Enjoy the chowder and clam cakes.

Come and play Sakonnet Golf Club. The best little course you will ever play. Incredible greens and on the Ocean. Donald Ross course and he liked the area so much he built a house there
