Number 2 is classic and has the history. I was also fan of 8 and 9. 1 is good for a quick round as it's a short course.

Also make sure you head downtown and check out the town there is a cool vibe in Pinehurst

If you've never played #2, get it off the bucket list. If you've played 2 before, #4 if it open (may still be rebuilding). #3 has the most challenging greens (small and elevated). We've enjoyed the restaurants on property.

Ned: We stayed there for the TT Invitational in 2016 and played #4 and #2 and I would go with #2. This was the second time that I have stayed at the hotel. Your wife might enjoy the afternoon tea at the hotel. Something special. I'm sure that there are some good places to eat off the property but was not disappointed with the food or service at the hotel. Southern hospitality at it's best. Chuck (Charleston, SC)

I would play #2 if you never have, #8 would be my 2nd choice. #4 is being renovated or that would be my choice. I would suggest the Carolina dining room at the hotel; food, service and atmosphere are all good and you don't have to drive anywhere.

Any you can get on will be great but #2 is the gold standard. Hoping to get there this summer.

Last year I played No. 1, 2, 4, 5 & 9. If your only there for 1 round, play No. 2 & take a caddy. You won't be disappointed!

Have dinner at the Carolina, the food is awesome.

Play #2 with a caddy. Priceless experience. If you can’t play #2, you should play #8. The new Cradle short course by Gil Hanse is great, too. Walk around the clubhouse, grab a drink at the Deuce restaurant/bar, and get a photo next to the Payne Stewart statue by the 18th green. Soak up the experience!

#2 for sure.

Play No.2 and take a Caddy. It's well worth it.
I've played numerous elite courses around the country and without a doubt Pinehurst No. 2 is my favorite. When I was there the Cradle wasn't around yet, but you might sneak in a round on there after you're done.
As for dinner the Pinecrest Inn was good. It was the only place we ate at off campus, and it has a lot of history and is very golf centered. If your wife is a golfer go there. If not, I might look elsewhere.
Either way enjoy the trip!

Seems like I agree with most folks here. Play #2 with a caddy. Have a beverage in the Ryder Cup lounge. Have dinner in the main dining room. Also, don't miss the breakfast buffet at the Carolina.
