Father's Birthday Golf Trip

Bethpage Black will not disappoint BUT you'll have to spend the night in the parking lot to play the next day. I did it last year with a few buddies and it was well worth it... I think we paid around $135.

I've lived in New England all my life and IMHO Bethpage is the best I've ever played. I would choose Bethpage over TPC Boston if given the choice.

A really good course to think about is the TPC River Highlands which offers membership for a day packages that's sometimes include meal balls and the course, very very fun and cool to play a course that the pros play

I had the opportunity to play BP Black last year as a part of a 2-day buddy's trip. By far one of my favorite golf memories and an amazing course. We played it just before the PGA Tour was coming to town so conditions were top notch. As Chris H. mentioned, the options to play the Black course are limited. It will require you to stay overnight in the lot (we did) or hook up with a NY resident and have them make a tee time. That NY resident must be present and part of your group.

PGA National is a great resort in a great part of Florida. It's not the cheapest place but it is quality. On site there are 4 courses, great pool area, 2 ranges, short game area....everything that a good resort should offer. They even have a couple golf schools on site (Leadbetter and Pelz) if that is something that interests you. My favorite of the on-site courses are the Palmer and the Champion. The Champ is where the Honda Classic is played. As you can imagine, the Champ is the priciest of the courses and may require you to take a caddie. It's a lot of fun to play a course that you see tour players playing on TV. Again, not a cheap place but a great place. The Palm Beach Gardens/West Palm Beach area has a lot going on as well so you are not restricted to just being on site.

There are other places on the east coast to consider. Pinehurst, RTJ Trail, Tobacco Road. I personally don't have experience with those places but hear great things.

If you are willing to wait until mid June, I'd suggest a trip to Cooperstown NY and play Leatherstocking and then Williamstown MA to play Taconic. I say to wait because you want to avoid Williams being in session. Beautiful areas, fantastic courses and throw a trip to the BB Hall of Fame in for good measure!
