    In the spirit of st. Patrick's Day I thought I'd share a picture of what's most important today... Greens. This is by far the hardest green I've ever had to put on and is on Yale Golf Course. It was a par 3 (long par 3) that had a valley in the middle of the green and the pin in the back. Naturally I hit the front of the green and had to putt through that Marianas Trench a good 3 to 4 times to get on that top tier. Was both the most miserable and amazing thing I've experienced. So with that being said what's your favorite green to putt​ on or shake your fist at? Happy st. Patty's day everyone!

    Hey Josh - I love this thread topic! I would say that the hardest greens I have played on are at Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina.

    The greens are small, elevated and undulating to the slightest extreme. Makes for a fun challenge.

    You need to go and play Carnoustie. Some of the greens are HUGH! All yardages are to the front of the green and there is a sign on the tee telling you how far back that days pin is. Some of them are +80 yards back. It is not uncommon to have lag putts of over 60 yards!

    There are a number of courses in SC that tend to have small greens. I play on the City of Charleston Municipal Course that was built in 1927 and the greens are a challenge. Bermuda and small, but fun. They do require accurate shots.

    The hardest greens I've putted on are at Crystal Downs in Northern Michigan. I played last summer, and they were small, undulating, and just plain FUN.

    That green in the picture from the Yale course above (which I played myself once when I lived in CT) just begs for a windmill at the top of the gully on one side, and a jack-in-the box on the other!

    Actually, the Course at Yale is a great track.

    I love this too, there are so many great greens. Although brown 2 weeks ago, number 5 at Cherokee Ridge, near Huntsville Alabama is a tough beauty playing 125 to 180. Usually a good breeze off the water and long is as bad as short.

    Don't know if this is correct, Joshua B, but this picture definitely reminds me of a hole on a course name the The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay near Chattanooga, TN. Regardless, I agree, if not the same green, they BOTH are ridiculous to manage if out of position.

    Dove Mountain in Marana, AZ are some of the toughest greens. Huge humps and forget about it if you are on the wrong side or above the hole.

    The toughest I've played at those at Champions Golf Club in Houston. Large, lots of big and small undulations that are not always easy to see, and fast.

    Grayhawk, those greens are amazing. Maybe not the toughest but just their awesome.

    I'll 2nd Crystal Downs - the greens there are just brutal! Played at the beginning of the season last year and it was incredible how fast they were.
    We had a fore caddy and just about every time someone putted right off the green she would say, "that's Crystal Downs"

    Looks like you fell victim to the Biarritz green. This is a classic green complex design that was employed quite often by Seth Raynor and CB Macdonald.

    Teton Springs in Victor, Idaho. Greens are always in phenomenal shape. Fast and true.
