My wife and I are heading to Maine for our anniversary in early October. Any course recommendations near the Camden area? Neither of us have ever been to that part of the country, but looking forward to it!

Hi Nick,
Nothing like fall golf in New England!! The Samoset Resort in Rockport,Maine is first class and runs along the ocean in some holes, much like some of the holes at Pebble. A bit pricey, but play it once and nice dining too there! My second choice is Rockland Golf Club in Rockland and reasonable rates. Third and last is Goose River Golf Course in Rockport and is reasonable, but was a bit rough when we were there some years back!
Enjoy!

Hi Nick
You should check out Samoset in Rockland. Several of the holes run right along the coast line with amazing views. The course is usually in great shape and a little more reasonably priced at that time of year.
Have fun!
Thank you, everyone! This is helpful and gives me a start. I visited the websites and all look wonderful. This isn't a golfing trip, so rentals will be a must. Can't wait for the cooler weather, fall leaves, and the ocean (hey, we're Nebraskans - big water fascinates us). Really looking forward to it. Luckily, I got my wife addicted to the sport we love and she wants to play on the trip. Keep'em coming!

Maine is a great state. We live in Mass and head up to Vacationland often. If you venture to Bar Harbor (you should) there's a little 9 holer called The Causeway. It's not long, but it's a great track, on the water, and it's a good break from sight seeing and eating (if you need a break from that). My wife and I enjoyed it.

I played Samoset and it was fantastic, would definitely recommend.
All-
Thanks for the responses. It was very helpful and helped me narrow down. We ended up playing Samoset on Monday. GREAT track. The course was in fantastic shape. Factor in the fall colors and the ocean views, I thought it was a bargain. I ended up leaving my sticks at home and rented from the pro shop. They were a top of the line brand and new model, but not my own. It was a reminder as to the importance of fitting. Simply asking for right handed, stiff shafts doesn't quite cut it. But that is besides the point. For rentals, they were very good.
Thanks again for all of your help. I would recommend Samoset to anybody. My wife and I truly enjoyed it.
