Golf Courses in Austin and Houston

I play Falconhead about once every other week Excellent Course...look for GolfNow Deals!!!!

Austin City courses Jimmy Clay & Roy Kizer are very good for Muni Tracks...2 different styles right next to each other.

Not too far from Austin is Rivercrossingclub.com well worth the drive good track and amazing greens!!!

Onion Creek in Austin is good as well...

Any of the Barton Creek Resort courses are world class as well...

Welcome to the Houston area.  There are lots of good courses to play in and around Houston, depending on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to pay.  As you noted, Cypresswood is a good choice.  It has two 18-hole courses--Cypress and Tradition.  The latter hosts a Shell Houston Open qualifier every year, and also hosts Texas PGA events and this year a senior tour qualifier.  It's always in good condition and offers a good variety of tees from which to play.  The former is shorter, but not necessarily easier course, with four tee options.  It is tighter and has sharper doglegs.

Another quality course is Blackhorse.  It also has two 18-hole courses and is consistently ranked at or near the top of Houston area courses for overall quality.  It is more expensive than Cypresswood, though.  

There are also several good daily fee courses:  High Meadow Ranch, Gleannloch Pines, WindRose, Cypress Lakes, Woodforest, and Tour 18 in the northern suburbs; Wildcat, Hermann Park (municipal), and Memorial Park (former site of Houston Open) downtown; Meadowbrook Farms, Cinco Ranch, and River Ridge (Sealy) in the west; Timber Creek, Quail Valley, and Wilderness at Lake Jackson to the south; Eagle Pointe, Evergreen Point, and Battleground at Deer Park to the east.

The real standout course is, of course, Redstone, but it's also the most expensive--and probably the most difficult.
