I have been playing a 2020 Scotty Special Select Newport 2 with 60 gram total of weights. That is 30 in each port. Have not had much luck of fast greens. Thought back to the days of the success I had had with my older model Newport 2 putters and the lighter weights in the heads. My previous had 20 grams total, so went by my favorite local titleist account/repair shop/fitter and put in some 10 gram weights that I had in my adjustment bag. Wanted them to check to make sure that the old weights would fit without striping the newer threads. All is well and also picked up some 15 gram weights, ensured they fit, for further experimentation. Our greens are very slow right now due to fertilizing, heavy watering and not mowing everyday. They most likely are rolling at a 9 now, which most of the senior really like, but come tournament they will have them around 11-12+, which they will be complaining about. I like having the ability to adjust the weights depending on the speed of the greens. Look out TPC Scottsdale.
The 79th Annual City Amateur Invitational is the 19th-21st, and they want the greens to be as good as they can get them. 18 of 121 registered as of today are scratch (0-+4.5). A great time to play them on the 23rd for the Folds of Honor event.
