COVER FALLING OFF!

This has happened to me a couple of times.  Fortunately, it was merely a case of the cover coming off and I had to go back and get it somewhere back down the fairway and not a case of losing it forever.

If I could make a suggestion for improving the design of the cover, it would be to also add a velcro type of strap or perhaps a buckle and snap type that goes outside the lower portion of the putter cover so that it fastens and tightens around the "neck" or shaft/hosel area.  This would offer a "positive" type of reinforcement to assist in keeping the cover in place should the inside velcro weaken from use/age, etc. 

It would also be appreciated if more golf retailers would sell the SC putter covers....in the event that one gets lost or heaven forbid stolen.

I have heard of a few people having this issue but it has never happened to me.  What putter do you have? You may be using a non-recommended cover...there are so many sizes now, more than ever before, so it could easily missed.

Sorry for your loss my friend. I think it happens to all of us eventually. I lost my out of production California blade cover last year. I have since switched to a cover with a magnetic snap closure produced by the same manufacturer. You can get them custom embroidered and really personalized them any which way you want. You can just slide the putter in and out with out have ing to pull open the flap. But the best thing I like about it is how quiet it is. I can get ready for my put without having to worry about making a lout tearing sound during anyone's back swing.

If you want to keep the official Scotty cover, I've read that you can modify the closure system to convert it to a magnetic one. Just order some small neodymium magnets and lay them over the Velcro. Then take some non-adhesive Velcro and lay it over to hold the magnets in place. The cover should be able to stay shut without using the Velcro, and it doesn't require any sewing or glue, so the integrity of the cover remains intact. The hard part would be to get the right size magnet that will not cover up so much surface area that the Velcro will not stick strong enough. But not so small that they do not hold the cover on tightly.

Spudstarch - I too have alternate headcovers, probably from the same manufacturer as yours.  I liked the magnetic ones, especially how quiet they are, but went back to velcro because the magnetic ones kept falling off.

I recently bought a used putter cover that matches the other carbon fiber head covers in my bag. I love it, but the hooks on the Velcro seem to have straightened out a bit from use. I'm going to try and restore them with a heat gun or lighter and hope it curls them back into shape.

Maybe the head cover on mine does not fall off since it is a 32.5" putter that falls all the way down inside the bag.

I know some guys that have headcovers sewn up so that they don't fall off.

I must be lucky as I've never had a headcover fall off.

DIY or take it to a cobbler and sewn that sucka up..

It finally happened; lost a putter cover this past weekend.  Time to use another.

I made a leash for mine using a bigrock beer lanyard and a pocket clip off a trade show badge. Only wished I had a Titleist or Scotty Lanyard
