My buddy's dad wanted to play his first round of golf on a real course after taking lessons. I decided to go with them and play a par 62 executive course since it was his first round the three of us decided to play the front men's tees recognizing his skill level.
Despite showing up in work pants, as it was a Friday afternoon and I came straight from the office, I bogied the first hole and then rattled off an easy par on the second hole. At the beginning of the third hole , another beginner who had only played a few rounds asked if he could join us and I obliged figuring we already had one beginner. I then parred the third hole with a a great putt. On the fourth hole, from 94 yd out, I did a half swing with my 48° Titleist T200 wedge... Tracking directly at the pin, it took two tiny hop bounces before dropping directly into the hole. I'm still not sure if I'm luckier getting the hole in one, or the fact that the bar at the clubhouse had closed as we hit the turn and I got off cheap on the drinks
Both the beginners now assume that hole-in-ones happen all the time since It was the first round for one, and one of the first rounds for the other. Boy are they going to be disappointed when the learn how frustrating the search for a hole-in-one is in real life!
