Does anyone have a routine they do before each shot?
Ryan CryslerWest Palm Beach, FL
Yes sir! I line up to my intermediate target and focus on keeping my body tall and swinging as fast as possible. It's really that simple.
For putting and scoring shots, I focus on how the ball will fall into the cup. I'm very much a fan of Zen Golf.

I've been trying to develop one. I like to play fast, and playing slow really messes with my game. A friend of mine who's one heck of a player said that developing a pre-shot routine would help my problem tremendously.
First I try not to think about my shot until I can actually take it. If Mr. and Mrs. Havercamp are playing in front of me, I’ll look at the trees, talk to my playing partners or clean my clubs until they’re gone.
From behind my ball I take a couple (2-3) lose practice swings focusing on either tempo, grip, or my posture. (my biggest problems) While I’m loosening up I’ll visualize the exact path I want my ball to take.
Then I walk up to my ball from behind and pick a spot about a foot in front of it that’s in line with my target. I use this spot to square up my club and body. I take one more look at my target, look at my aiming spot, and then find a dimple on the ball to focus on.
After that I just swing.
It works for me. My biggest downfall is analyzing the swing too much before I take my shot. The more I keep my noggin out of the way the better I play.

Visualization. See it, do it.
