  1. I'm a disabled combat veteran. I just very recently got back into playing golf and would like to get some tips on how to straighten out my shot because I notice d that my shots seem to hook and slice very frequently. I would also like to build up some golf buddies who are Veterans that have been playing golf for a while now.

Check out the Veterans Golf organization . Here at Camp Lejeune the the Wounded Warrior group is heavily involved in the golf scene

Welcome!! I’m also a veteran and would recommend you to find a PGA professional to take lessons with. If you live in the Northern Virginia area I can recommend a few who I believe are excellent to work with.

You might also want to check your equipment, depending on your unique swing traits, and everybody has them, the wrong equipment can lead to inconsistency in distance and direction.

    Hope this helps.

Welcome aboard. U.S. Navy vet, served aboard the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy (CV-67). The best thing you can do is hook up with a PGA Golf Professional. Otherwise you're "flying blind". In the event that your disability is affecting your ball flight, these teaching pro's will show you how to work around it.

US Air Force veteran, 1965-1971, DAV, longtime TT member and Titleist loyalist. Go see a teaching pro and work on those slices and hooks. Will not take them long to figure out your issues. Could be a simple fix, if you are willing to put in the time. Also, could be an equipment issue, all depending on your disability. Have you been fitted for your gear? Sean S made a very good recommendation.

LTC , USA, Ret. (66-92). I've been playing since 1956, so I guess I have a bit of experience. I'm in SE Texas. As others have suggested, I'd get with a teaching pro to work on those issues. Otherwise, you're just inputting possibly erroneous info to try to make corrections. One of our local courses has group lessons for veterans. Check around your area to see if something like that exists. It's a good way to learn and develop, without spending a lot of cash.

Did not mention where you live. PGA HOPE Carolinas (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is an adaptive golf program offered by our PGA Professionals as a rehabilitation tool to improve our veterans’ quality of life by enhancing their mental, social, physical, and emotional well-being. There is NO COST to our veterans. We serve our veterans at twelve locations in North and South Carolina with an emphasis on helping those with physical and emotional disabilities that would most benefit from our initiative.

Where are you located? Here in the Atlanta area they have an Adaptive Golf Program that is part of the GSGA and targets disabled vets. If you aren't in Georgis, your area may have something similar... but as others have suggested, I would suggest finding a PGA teaching pro!

  9. A few things may help: Titleist has instruction videos on the site...or find a video/internet teacher that makes sense (I like how Micheal Breed explains)...or find a local teacher to help bang them out on the range till they get more predictable flight. In my slice/hook experience it is typically grip (too strong) or swing path out to in instead of in to our. Best of luck on your journey!
