hi there,
i have a problem when driving the ball, the ball will extremely turn to the right. i went to my local PGA teacher and after 2 lessons i still slice the ball (very frustrating) any tips on how to take off the slice off the ball ?

I had the same problem that you did. I first tried changing my grip making the clubhead slightly closed before I even made a swing. Still after no success with that, I focused on really turning my wrists over once I was at the peak of my backswing. What I needed to do was get the muscle memory of bringing my wrists through so that the clubhead was squared to the ball. Almost get the mentality of hooking the ball and try to make that type of swing. If you start hooking, then you know you're getting results and can lower the extremity of the wrist turn. Hope that helps.
thank you very much Matt D

I also suffered from a chronic slice. Get a pair of alignment sticks (driveway markers work great) and try two drills.
First get to the top of your backswing and have someone place an alignment stick on the pit/ joint side of your elbows, then make your downswing. If your alignment stick falls flat then you're coming down ok. If it falls nose towards the ground, then you're swinging over the top and most likely producing a slice.
Second place your alignment sticks at 10 and 4 o'clock. When you make your swing try to focus on coming in from 4 o'clock, hitting the ball square at impact, and following through toward the 10 o'clock stick. This will help you get the inside to out draw swing.
I would also suggest getting another lesson from a different pro.
Thank you very much Josh G,
I just started playing golf for now 3 weeks and i am very serious about the sport (too the extent of wanting to be a pro). Its a real passion for me ! just got a coach for the very first time in my life, hope he well cure my problems.

I got a medicus driver and use it for about 10 min a day in the evening. It really helps me keep the slice down to a minimum. Great training aid.

As a previous post stated, the key is 'releasing' your hands through the ball. Two tricks I used in the past to develop that muscle memory. One pertains to the backswing and one pertains to the follow-through.
For the backswing:
The follow-up through is almost identical:
One other tip that helps. The golf swing is almost identical to a baseball swing, just on a different plane. When you swing a baseball bat properly, your top hand (right if you are RH, left if LH) rolls over the other hand on the follow through. Take a golf club swing it like a baseball bat and continue doing so while you adjust your plane down from a baseball swing to a golf swing, without changing your follow through.
There other factors that could contribute but these might be helpful for some of you.

first off keep with your pro give him time to fix it nothing gets fixed over night. but here is a quick and easy watch jim mclean 8 step swing it will help change your swing plane from start to finish. second of al and this is the long breack down.
first step is the take away slow and rotate the sholders. no wrist for the first 2-3 food.
second advice from me is on the down swing assuming your useing the 8 step swing. only rotate the hips and sholders it should feel as thow your pulling the club in the begining. when you return to parrallel as in the video look at the hand position. shold still be face open. with our rotateing your body just rotate your wrist. as in turn your nuckels back down to the starting position. as your doing this the club will move forward to the impact point or about a foot back or so. and your club should be squar downt he target line.
this is how your down swing should go. do this nice and relaxed dont try to mucle the swing let it come natural and i bet your gain yards and accuricy. but the key is to never stop rotateing your sholders even after impact. most people stop swinging at impact. year the club keeps moving but they are fallowing threw becouse there supose to. there not acctually still swinging. your fallow threw is apart of the swing so when they say keep rotateing and swinging there talking about keep that focuse on swinging untill your well threw the impact zone. remember sholder rotation is the key.
Example. have you ever seen a club test machine. theres only one pivit point. that pivit point you a humon is your sholders. yes you need your hips to move to facilitate this but all your power is coming from that sholder turn your hips just incress this. but being human you need to brake the wrist over so the hand roll i told you about is the only thing diffrent than the macihine you should need to do to make that same swing arc. let me know if this works for you
