Should Titleist offer a Black finish as a standard option for their T-Series irons?

    Should Titleist break the mold and offer an option to choose a classic chrome or black finish for their upcoming irons, which are set to be released in mid-to-late 2025? It's frustrating when companies release limited-edition black iron sets six months before they are due to be replaced with a newer, better version.

    Year after year, Titleist continues to set the bar with high-quality clubs. The latest T-Series irons are a testament to their enduring commitment to excellence. If you're in the market for a new set of clubs, I can't recommend them enough. They're not just tools, they're a game-changer.

    Titleist is a storied company in the game of golf, and that won't change anytime soon. I respect their history and traditional product design. However, as we approach 2025, fans of the brand should have an option to black out their entire set of irons without being forced to play an older model. Do you agree? Disagree?

    They usually bring out a black option early in the second season of the iron cycle. Probably to get a little bump in sales the second year of the product. If you want them to be black earlier you can get them refinished.

    I am sure Titleist has studied the production cost and supply impacts of having multiple versions in the inventory at the time of new model release and whether it is something that makes sense to do or to continue the existing methodology of deferring specialty models. I personally wouldn’t want to see anything change that might add cost and risk that would be passed on to the consumer.

    Have to agree with my right honorable friend. Now if titleist would run a survey and see how many would pay an extra 25% or whatever additional costs would be to special order them, so additional charges would not be passed on to the most loyal customers, I do not see anything wrong with that. Titleist is unique, has a special following and the pinnacle in golf, because it is not like the other golf companies. I just cannot see having a large inventory of the blacked heads out that potentially would not sell out. I think the special edition is the right way to go for Titleist.

    I don’t think you can just add 25% in cost to offer different finishes. The companies that manufacture the heads for Titleist have to be capable of producing different finishes that meet Titleist quality standards without creating delays in the production schedules of the primary finish products. They may have significant cost and schedule impacts in order to comply and might require some quantity guarantees for different finishes that Titleist would have to cover. It’s really more complicated than just throwing a few extra dollars at it.

    I'd like to see them offer various finishes on each iron set. If the consumer is willing to pay for an upgraded finish, then what's the issue? Waiting until the end of the release cycle to offer black finishes is silly.

    Other companies are putting out really cool finishes immediately. Why shouldn't the best clubs in the game have the same option?

    Most companies offer alternate finishes in the second year of a two year cycle. Cobra just brought out black finish on their CB and MB set. Taylor Made usually does the same thing with their P•790.

    To agree to disagree, as long as Titleist offers any club in available finishes in LH as well as RH, it’s ok by me. Many other companies might offer multiple finishes but not a LH version.

    Titleist will offer the black T Series finish soon. The new irons will come out next year and they will dip all their remaining stock in black to try to get rid of them before the new irons get announced.
