Putter addiction

I wonder if there is a support group similar to Gamblers Anonymous ??

So long as your kids have shoes and you don’t lose your home, there are worse addictions.

If you are buying putters to try to improve your game, then find a Cameron fitting studio near you and get fit. Toe hang, loft, and length all contribute to better putting. …Everything to minimize variables short of reading a green. The square back will have less toe hang than a Newport. A face balanced mallet even less. One of these 3 styles will closely follow your natural arc in your stroke. There’s more to a putter than what meets the eye.

Newports have far too much toe hang for me. I do best with a square back or one of the “half numbered” mallets (7.5, 11.5). Your results will vary.

It's an addiction. You can seek counseling, but it's a pretty harmless habit. Talk to your estate planner to make sure you have plan for their future when you pass.
I can't help but picture a comparison between someone obsessed with keeping every car they've ever owned, as opposed to putters. Would you rather have a neighbor with a yard full of old cars, or a yard full of Scotty putters?

Depends on if you use them or not... those who constantly switch putters rarely become great putters. It takes time to build feel, trust and consistency with a putter. I play with a few guys who seemingly have a different putter in the bag every time they play, and they putt exactly how you would expect. The best putters i've played with over 40+ years of golf usually have old faithful in their bag. Nothing wrong with going to newer technology or switching it up every once in a while, but having a putter you have faith in is instrumental in being a great putter.

We all have a vice, that's for sure, but it can get out of hand. I've been into stereo equipment, muscle cars, dirt bikes/4-wheelers, but never got the bug for an excessive amount of golf equipment. I have 3-4 Scotty's, and always go back to an original Anser.
