Extra wraps to simulate midsize grip?

  1. I want to order a T150 4 iron with the CP2 or CP2 wrap in midsize, and they're currently out of both on the Titleist site. I see there are options for extra wraps, but I've never done that. Will that be basically the same? If so, how many extra wraps would equal a midsize grip?

I use the Dri Tac midsize, and my fitter told me 4 extra wraps on the standard would be the same size, but it does not feel the same to me.

I'd just order them with "grip in box" and swap it out for an actual midsize grip from your local golf store.
  4. I only have done extra wraps to simulate midsize with my clubs over the years and it works great. I feel it is a slightly firmer feel than the grip itself but overall you get the size you are looking for.

    Cheers!
  5. Sorry, three wraps on titleist.com order site will simulate midsize I believe...Thats what I use...

The option to have the base Tour Velvet sent in the box - not added is another choice. If you can get the midsize locally.

It's usually 4 wraps to go up in size. +4 wraps to a Standard will make it feel like a Midsize, +4 wraps to a Midsize will make it feel like a Jumbo.

Note - adding wraps to increase size will stretch a rubber grip - possibly making it feel 'firmer' vs without extra wraps. If you like CP2 (Wrap or Pro) because of they 'feel soft', you may not want to add wraps to Midsize.

You could always order the club with "Grip in box - not installed" to make it easier for someone else (local vendor with Midsize CP2 available) to put the grip on. Yes, you would have an extra grip from the purchase.

    Good luck!
  8. I was going to say the same thing with the feel. I was advised when I was fit for my T150s to get the 4 additional wraps. I love the way this feels compared to the midsize.
  9. Thanks everyone. Ended up that they got some of the ones I wanted back in stock so I ordered it that way, but this is all very helpful for the future.

Midsize is 1/16 larger in diameter or .06" requiring 6 addiional layers of buildup tape in addtion to the standard layer of double sided grip tape.

I believe it would be 3 wraps to go from standard to mid but it will feel slightly firmer
