Which club would you choose

Don't care how bad your putting might be, if you're a 13 handicap you will see no benefit from a player's iron. Honestly, doesn't matter which brand you choose as every company will have a model that will fit your game. The important thing is getting something that helps your misses and fits your swing. Outdoor fittings are crucial to see turf interaction.

Amen on the turf interaction. If I could carry a mat I could easily shave 4-5 strokes off my score.

There is a bias in telling you to try a Titleist sponsored fitting near your home. The $100 fee is refunded with a purchase. No more bias than remarking how white glove treatment is at TPI.

The Titleist fittings, TPI or otherwise, are designed to get you in the correct iron for launch, carry, and descent for optimal performance. Including dispersion, as well. The analogous iron to the AP3 is the T200. Any club with a fitter will sell you what club you want. If the Titleist fitter recommends the T200 but you want the T100, you won’t need a Titleist sponsored fitting.

The (mostly) indoor sites that carry all brands are focused on commission. Just be clear up front if you don’t want to pay for a lot of extras, if it matters. Reported frequently that magically, the +$200 exotic shaft will be the best for you. If $400+ irons that list for $200 are ok, your choice. There are reasons other brands exist. My bias is I won’t do any better shopping 3-4 brands for that one magic bullet. In my case, sets through 4 irons and the lack of LH options lead me to Titleist (or png) for individual iron sales and not limited by lack of LH.

Gotta agree on the outdoor aspect. Get somewhere that you can see the ball fly and focus on your peak height and decent angles.

I think you're not going to be happy until you do both fittings as mentioned. There is nothing wrong with looking at other clubs, and certainly nothing wrong with wanting to move to more of a players iron. If you strike the ball well and consistently, and want to be able to work the ball, more of a players iron will benefit you.
My game is pretty inconsistent (15 to 18 handicap and it will go either way on the same weekend), and I play a combo T350/T200 set and love it. But I have a T100S pitching wedge I work with and it feels so good when my swing is dialed in that I can understand why a consistent ball striker would want a full set.
Keep in mind that the shaft is what drives the club, and a proper shaft will make more of an impact on your swing than the clubhead. I wouldn't consider any fitting unless it is outdoors on grass, and they have a full cart of shafts.
I'm a bit biased toward Titleist ever since I learned how to spell it properly (I before E, except after L), so personally I would go to TPI, especially if I lived in Carlsbad. I hesitate going only because at some point they would tell me it's time to go home.

My bag is rather unusual but, at the end of the day, it’s what gets you on the dance floor with the fewest strokes.

Between 2020-2023, I played 695MB 7-9 1/2” short at stock loft and fared reasonably well. PW was a 50-08F bent to 48. I simplified my iron setup to 716CB 7 iron (32*) and 716MB 8 iron (39*). At the beginning of this year, put in a Sumo2 SQ 34 and bent the 716MB 8 iron to 40*. I pulled the 8 iron out 3 months ago after having a T100S 9 iron constructed (S200 shaft, stock length 1.5* upright). I just acquired the T-MB 8 iron and had an S200 shaft installed.

I upgraded my fairways and 5H to TSR1 20, 23 and 26. I installed 70g R shafts at standard length. -4g headweights on the fairways and +2 on the hybrid for D2 swingweight.

Yes ….. went back to a 9 wood after almost 10 years. It is my go to club.

Thanks for your feedback. I will only be doing an outdoor fitting. I had a decent Titleist fitting during COVID at a fitting event and they suggested T200 at my old club settings so I went with AP3s instead. Personally, I don't care for T200s and want a club with better dispersion versus longer distance. If you look at the data, they are very very close. One is T150 and the other is Mizzuno 243. I hit T150 better with a slightly higher ball speed and smash factor. Mizzuno actually felt a lot better and got away with some bad shots that hit the green and yet the dispersion is practically the same. If anything, dispersion from those shots would suggest 243 is more ideal with very little left to right offline shots but shorter distance on bad strikes which I'm okay with. I have no problem grabbing a 4 iron in my current bag and hitting 200-205 carry but sometimes get a hot one and it goes 10-15 longer which is what I'm trying to avoid with distance irons. I tried the 245 and this year’s T200s and had longer distance but had larger dispersions left and right.

My favorite is my 9 wood (TSR1 23). I can hit it off just about any lie. Then next is my 26H.

I’ve never been a master fitter or PGA professional but have done a few fittings limited experience however I think the most important thing out of the fittings is the consistency of your ball striking, selecting the correct shaft(most important) and to find your preferred launch and say spin!! But there are three strong options that are not quite players clubs but not totally players distance!! The T150’s are very forgiving providing adjustable ball flight due to conditions by the fundamentals!! Also, Taylor Mades P770’s are very forgiving having the players club appearance!! However the 770’s typically have a higher ball flight both clubs dispersion very good with correct shaft!! Finally I think the miz jPX 923 Forged irons give you the really good forgiveness distance however I read the dispersion not quite as good as others but haven’t tried them however with correct shaft should be fine!! All three feel really good with miz feeling like butter Titleist then Taylor made as far as feel!! But finding correct shaft with your swing will provide the dispersion you need as well all three are clubs that tend to be between players and players distance!! Typically outside conditions tend to change so club more adjustable would be more beneficial! Titleist 150’s are clubs you can shape up down left and right!! P 770’s seemed to have a high launch no problems moving left to right but lower could be a problem!! Haven’t tried 923 Forged but miz’s typically very shapable!!

I own the Titleist T150’s and love them with my S400 shafts!! Dispersion extremely good with good swing!! Maneuverability with ease! Can hit stingers with 4 iron and as high as I want!! I have miz MP 58 as backups/practice! Haven’t tried them yet but MP 15 excellent however length not stated correctly on eBay! Years ago Titleist rep stated I needed a heavier shaft after about swinging 15 times!! Ever since switching to s400’s and 85 90 gram driver shafts made dispersion extremely good!! Launch is however I want low mid and high right and left not a problem!! Good luck!!
