    So, what is the story behind the TSR Mini Driver/2-Wood? I find it interesting that it is being released late in the TSR life cycle. www.golfwrx.com/.../

    This might be my 50 degree replacement in the bag!

    Sometimes I throw in an old 975D in the bag just for a fairway finder.

    My 50 is literally only used for 1 shot. 115yd approach. I can go a month without hitting it.

    The No Putts Given team compared the 2W to the 975D in size and shape. In interviews Titleist went to great lengths to say this is strictly a prototype. At best, even if they supply a few to the pros, it won’t make it to the next gen release this fall.

    Maybe this will create a market for used 975D drivers?

    I have a 975D and 975J that I take out on the course from time to time. They don't go much more than 250 yds but they are straight as an arrow.

    That might just fall under the current TSR+ fairway 13* that is currently in the inventory and available to the public. Check it out under clubs above.

    It's a prototype that I doubt will make it to a public release as a TSR. IMO it'll be offered in the new line in the fall and will replace the current 2+ model.

    For a prototype, it sure has a finish that looks like it could be sold at retail

    Prototype is probably a bad description but there have been other examples of non-production clubs. The irons made specifically for Adam Scott, Justin Thomas, and Webb Simpson come to mind. Those all have full finishes just like their MB production models. Not saying they won't market a smaller TSR but we are getting close to the next generation and any spin-off is usually a full year before the new models would come out.

    I think this would be such a great addition to the line-up. Mini drivers are going to be highlighted at the Masters this year you watch!

    Titleist does rely heavily on tour requests. Following trends that end up as fads are not strong parts of their marketing strategy. Whatever happened to single length clubs and an earlier mini-driver, the “frankenwood”? Or the chipper in lieu of an actual wedge? I was surprised png still offers that.

    I now have the new TSR2+ 13° in my bag and plan to us a lot tonight in league play, I will report back on my thoughts.

    I will have to say this is an awesome 3 wood, long off the tee and easy to shape or keep low. True fairway finder. Very happy that I added it to the bag.

    My TSR2+ 3 wood is basically a mini driver. Hit it about 15 to 20 yards less than my driver and is a bit more controllable. Mainly use it off the tee.

    So what do we think the utility is here? Would you guys exclusively use it off the tee? Would you substitute it for driver in the bag? Hit it off the fairway?

    If it’s the reduced length that is appealing from a consistency standpoint, why not just cut down a standard driver at that point?

    I’ve hit the other mini driver out there, and like it, just wouldn’t know where’d it fit into the bag or how useful it’d actually be for the golf game.

    Note: Currently game the 13.5 TSR2+
