    Hello all,

Probably a post a lot of us can relate to but thought my experience may help others. Previously I had a 13.5 degree 3 wood which was ok but never able to hit from the ground and was 245 from the tee. Was happy to just have it as a second driver. But I decided to try a 15 degree just for the fairway and extra loft for forgiveness. Must say I'm glad I did, carry is the same believe it or not and the fairway shot into a par 5 or long par 4 is now an option i I didn't have before. My ego certainly got the best of me with this club but was an interesting experiment to say the least.

Anyone else changed their clubs by putting the ego aside?

When I got my new clubs I went with regular flex shafts in my FW through irons. I always played stiff flex thinking it was what I needed but I get much better flight with these. Also, I went with a 4 and 5 hybrid instead of the long irons.
I don't know if these are ego moves or moves to help my game or both.

Yes, the ego went away years ago but was replaced by senior discounts, medicare, and social security checks. I'm okay with that.

It's taken awhile, but I think I'm finally getting my head around the idea of "you're not the player you were 20-30 years ago," and that's fine with me. Now the focus is more on finding the right tools for the way my game works, rather than having the figurative and literal flexibility to be able to shape my game to the tools at hand.
  5. So true Chris but the great part of golf is that we all still try to be that guy from 20 or 30 years back. The right equipment helps!

Last season, had to tuck tail and go from 15 to 16.5 in TSi2. My ego took a hit but the results were an improvement. Get fit fellas and find your yardage gaps!
