With regular tour players pushing 120 mph, senior tour players pushing 110 mph, the LPGA players averaging 94 mph and Gary Player recently commenting his swing speed is 88 mph, how much can wedge design influence the spin an older player/slower swing speed player can put on his/her shots? The pictures of the new SM10 are really attractive and the design features interesting. But can slower swing speed players take advantage of the new beautiful club?

Yes. Many short game spin shots are not full swings and are done more by proper technique that out right swing speed. Suggest you follow Parker McLachlin (shortgamechef) for some techniques to maximize your spin. New grooves always help too so theSM10 in the right loft and grind and hit with the right technique will give us old guys some much needed spin. BTW, course conditions play an important role in it too. Grass between the ball and club will kill spin and some greens will accept spin better than others. Good luck with it!

If you are fit for the correct shaft you will see the benefits of the new wedges. Remember, wedges are not about how hard you swing but about feel shots.

The general rule of thumb in years past was that you wedge shafts should be slightly softer than the rest of the iron shafts. This should give you better feel on the less than full swings you mostly make with them.
