Hi all - I have been fighting a wrist injury for the past year (trail hand, ulnar ligament tendonitis). My doctor told me to switch my shafts from steel to graphite. I currently play Modus 105 stiff and have been intrigued by older Nelly Korda WITB. She plays Steelfiber i80s, and I was wondering if anybody has any experience playing these? I would imagine that Nelly doesn't swing a 7 iron faster than about 80 mph, which is right in my wheelhouse.

    Any insight is appreciated.

    Thanks!

First off, unless your name is Nelly Korda I wouldn't base your decision on what she plays.
It's true that graphite shafts will help with injuries and arthritis but there are so many options that it would be a crap shoot for most people to pick one, especially if you're trying to combat pain and injuries. Try to find a good fitter with a large selection and see what feels/works best for your swing.

Talk to the PGA Pro with Grant Thornton. He'll have you swinging like Nelly in no time.

The Aerotech shafts are an upcharge. Graphite shafts are more than just for older, slower players. It might be worth getting fit for new irons, including the Aerotech. You might find a less expensive shaft that fits your swing and you could sell your old set, netting not much than the cost of the shafts and installation. If the Aerotech shafts don’t work out as hoped for, that’s a waste

I’ve played Aerotech Steelfiber shafts for years and I love them because they can be light but feel like steel. However, I'm not sure that you’ll find the dampening in them that you’re seeking.
  7. No experience with the Modus shaft, but I have played the i80 steelfiber shaft for the last 5 years. It is a great graphite shaft that, for me, has very tight dispersion. It does play stiff to flex. So a regular flex i80 would play more similar to a stiff flex shaft. Good luck, Brother.
