  1. I had a question for someone at Titleist if you can help me, which no local proshops can really seem to answer (due to the fact they are sales which I understand) I am a 12 handicap and took 2 years off the game and now just came back. My current clubs are Titleist 762's with stiff shafts and I need to upgrade. I demo'd the new AP1 712 clubs and I absolutely loved them (the main reason I loved it was I had added distance especially on off-center hits, etc.) Due to economic circumstances, I can really only afford the predecesor which are the AP1 710's. The crux of my question is this...given that I am a recreational golfer, and simply need more forgiveness and a little added distance (because I'm getting older, etc.) would I really notice a huge difference if I got the older AP1 710's. I know the technology is better in the new 712's, but if money is an issue for me and given the fact I'm playing such old out dated clubs would the difference really be noticable to me? Thank you in advance for your help.
  2. Tim,

The 712 AP1's are most definitely an improvement  from the 710's. Improved feel, forgiveness, looks (thin top line, more "traditional" looks, etc.). The long irons are easier to hit, which could help improve your game, which would lower your handicap. On the flip side, the 710 AP1's are still a great set of clubs. They're still forgiving, have a great feel, looks, etc.. Just make sure you purchase them through an authorized rep. Getting fit for your clubs is very important as well. A properly fit set of irons will help lower anyone's handicap.
