Vice Pro plus

I use the yellow ProV1x and love it! Yeah you get odd looks from people and some ribbing but the ball stands out better for me and I like being different. Go with what you like and most importantly what works!

Well, this site is operated by Titleist, so I’ll try to avoid suggesting heresy…

I use amber balls for visibility. The numerous decals or split colors from the other major vendors hold no appeal to me at all. I’ll leave speckled spheres to those species of birds that lay them. There are amber balls played on all the major tour. As well as one brand with multiple colors on the LPGA.

One consideration is consistency. Other than when the X became the higher flighted ball in 2017, I’ve never had to switch my purchase (from V to X) from year to year. Like other DTC offerings, there have been numerous disruptions in the supply chain for contract manufacturers. TM bought one, and another had a massive fire last winter, including destroying the metal dyes to form the balls. Most of the DTC brands have had to use different factories. So their products have not been consistent from release to release. What do you use next year if/when this year’s release is either discontinued or is made in a different company with changes to the specification?

My ball count is acceptable, rarely 2 balls a round. So I know what the next box of balls will play like with the Titleist logo on it. Greens fees are still my highest cost per round. Saving $4 a round on golf balls isn’t going to affect my $$ to play with $60 greens fees. I can recover most of that by bringing in one electrolyte drink in my bag instead of from the drink cart.

Everyone has choice. You are welcome to use any USGA/RA conforming ball at any tournament. Be it price or color, you can use whichever brand you prefer. But this site of Titleist enthusiasts are unlikely to recommend a DTC brand that doesn’t control the manufacturer.

With all due respect, please do not come and join this group and then post about other brands. No, we would never recommend anything except the number 1 ball in golf. If you choose to play something less than the best, just please keep it to yourself or go to their website if it exists. Thanks.

If you play a Pro V1, for instance, there is no difference in performance between the white or yellow ball. There are several PGA Tour pros who play a yellow ball.

Have never hit one! If playing a colored ball is an issue, Titleist makes them as well. If cost is a factor, you might consider the Toursoft ball by Titleist. We on here are Titleist loyalists and "do not" see us making recommendations regarding a Vice golf ball. Afterall Titleist is the number one golf ball. Can tell you this, if you swing speed in under 110 mph, Vice Pro Plus it is not the ball for you. Read that on reviews regarding their ball. Whether playing a colored ball in a tournement is an issue, that is a matter of choice. Some pros play them. Play the ball that feels the best and that you are comfortable with. Hopefully a Titleist. Most do.

Titleist controls every point in the manufacturing. No Direct to Consumer can offer that level of control outsourcing manufacturing to private label factories. Over the last 2 years, many DTC brands were forced to change their sourced factories.

Any ball on the USGA/RA approved list can be used in a sanctioned event. Are all Vice balls regardless of color approved - you can look them up on the USGA website. What color to use would be your personal choice.

As well it is as your choice to select the brand you play. For some, pricing is an issue. But the most consistent balls proven through years of development is a ball with the Titleist script.
