Should I switch to a Pro V1?

    I have been using just plain Titleist balls for the longest time now and was wondering if I should switch to a Pro V1. I have never tried a Pro V1 and was wondering if I should switch or just stick with what I have.

    Not sure what a plain Titleist ball is.

    Velocity, Tour Soft, and TruFeel are all labeled and not just plain.

    Go to Balls tab here. Read about each ball. There is an option under Fittings for a virtual ball fitting. The expert will ask you about your game, suggest a primary and secondary ball to trial and might even send you a 2 pack of each.

    There are advantages to using whichever tour quality Pro-V fits your game (-V, -x, left dash, AVX) over the other Titleist balls, especially for controlling shots onto the green. For that reason, many of us prefer a favorite in this group for our own game. Best of luck upgrading your game.

    I am not sure what a "plain" Titleist ball is? Titleist has various balls in different price categories to provide a solution for every golfer. Your ability and budget will dictate which one works best for you. Certainly the best option is always the premium line up. The ProV1, ProV1x, and AVX will give a golfer the greatest performance possible but you need to know which of those three fits you best. If you lose a lot of balls and have a tight budget, maybe using premiums is not practical. That's okay and you can still get high performance from any ball in the Titleist inventory. Trial and error is always the best way to find the one that works for you. The virtual ball fitting will help but nothing works as well as getting a sleeve of balls and playing them on the course. Good luck and maybe ProV1 is for you.

    There was a study about this very topic a few years back. Cliff notes are that everyone benefits from using a premium ball like Pro V1 and Pro V1x compared to more budget minded balls. The twist is that the higher the handicap, the more advantageous it is to use a premium ball with regard to average score. The deduction as I recall was that the less greens in regulation that are hit, the more the short game control becomes important.

    Short answer, give Pro V1 a try, your scores will likely reflect a difference.

    Well no one else is responding so here it is, short and sweet.
    Titleist Pro V1 Best All around performing ball period ………
    Playing, choosing a golf ball is a Personal preference, a connection, a confidence. So try it see if you like it.
    Played almost every ball out there. My seasonal decision is my clubs will not touch any other golf ball, besides ProV1. practice, chipping, putting etc or any non competitive round. Every hit matters! Lol

    In my humble opinion the ProV1 is the best ball on the market. If you're a longer hitter the ProV1x is the better choice. The feel, the distance, everything is top of the line with the ProV1.
    Titleist should be paying me for this. ;)

    Sorry, they probably will not be paying you to contradict their own information. Many short hitters are fit into ProV1x including me. The extra spin on irons and wedges is important for getting height when clubbed speed is low. There is no perfect formula for all golfers. It's about what you need most in your game and the specific feel you like in the contact with the ball. Glad you love the ProV1 as it, and all four of the premium balls are excellent.

    Well, don’t count on an endorsement check anytime soon. Titleist doesn’t recommend any ball based on club head speed. That may have been a factor with the Performance 90 & 100 balls in the last century. With 4 premium lines, there is one that will give the best performance for any serious golfer. Many slower swing golfers benefit from the higher launch of the X.

    I would try and see if there is a ball fitting event near you that you can attend. Luckily the pro at my club arranged one from Titleist last year and learned so much (had been using ProV but X was recommended).
    If no events local try the online tool, answer a few questions about your game and it will let you know best fit for you.
    People overlook ball fittings yet it’s the one constant in every shot!

    Ryan. AVX is one of the three premium golf balls. Prov1, Prov1x and AVX. The NXT ball has been out of the Titleist line of golf balls for a number of years.

    If you can do a ball testing that would be best. If not you can always get a couple sleeves and try them out on the course.

    The best way to test is from green to tee. Make sure the ball performs the way you want it to while putting and chipping, then on short approach shots, mid irons, long irons then lastly off the tee.

    Try it. If it doesn't help your scores or you lose too many for it to be affordable, stay with what you have. If your scores improve and you like the feel, stick with them.

    Must be a different dictionary than I have. There is nothing plain about any Titleist ball. They are like my children. All of them are special….

    I have been a Pro V1 player forever, however, I found a AVX last season and I really love the feel and ball flight. I may make the switch the next time I need ton order balls.

    Ryan. AVX is one of the three premium golf balls. Prov1, Prov1x and AVX. The NXT ball has been out of the Titleist line of golf balls for a number of years and was replaced by the TourSoft.
