I have a daughter( high school senior) that I had do a fitting at one of out University Courses. The pro that was doing the fitting said that women should never play the pro-v's, as they are detrimental to her distances. He stated that they should play the supersoft golf balls. Any validity to this? She currently hits her driver about 240.

Like you, Ralph, we on this site are Titleist loyalists, not pros, fitters or employees of Titleist. First, who were they doing ball fittings for, a particular brand? If you disagree with their assessment, I would purchase a sleeve of Prov1s and SuperSoft, have her play both and do a self analysis with each club. Of course there are a lot of touring pros (LPGA who play the Provs). To name a few: Prov1 - Lydia Ko, Sei Young Kim, Jessica Korda. Prov1x - Celene Boutier, Amy Yang, Patty Tanatankit. A bold statement to make; "women should never play the pro-v'", from a pro fitter, unless they are promoting a specific brand. According to an article I read in Golf Digest (June 2022) 57% of the LPGA pros play the Prov1x. Think the LPGA would prove them wrong.

I have played the SuperSoft and never cared for it. I was fitted by a Titleist fitter for my current Prov1 years ago and have great results from it for over all performance. I am 77 and play with guys who are somewhat younger, play the SS and the TM balls and Linda Ronstadt them with my Prov1 (blue bayou).

I would stay away from any "pro" who assumes that all women are the same and should never play ProV1. There's heck of a lot of women who play ProV1 and play it well. My daughter is 32 now and only plays about a dozen rounds a year, and she is not married to any particular ball. She has played a variety of balls and swears the ProV1 gives her the best performance.
Balls are cheap - get her a sleeve of several and let her decide which one fits her game the best.

Nope. Old school belief that is not backed by data. You will see ProV1 and ProV1x in the majority of bags on the LPGA and other women's professional tours. Also, the initial tee shot using a driver is at best, 14 shots per round. The spin, height, and feel you get from all the other shots is even more important than 2 or 3 yards difference on the tee shot. I can no longer carry 240 yards like her but I am fit for ProV1x for the height and spin I need for shots into the greens. The ball has no idea what gender is swinging the club. There is no such thing as a ladies tee or a ladies ball, just player's preference. Have her play the ball she likes and/or find a better informed pro to fit her into the right equipment.

I’ve tried many balls - just to be sure…. Both the V and X score the best for me. The X is a little better due to launch window and further carry
It would take a 40 mph tailwind and a straight fairway with at least a 6 degree decline for me to get to 240 yards.
According to No Putts Given that club head speeds under 80 mph, a softer ball may be the equal to a tour level urethane ball. However, your daughter has a club head speed in the range of a large number of amateur men. Which Pro-V? That will come from personal trial.
When Titleist does ball fittings, many “under 90mph” players end up with the X. It isn’t just for players with speeds 105 or faster

Thanks everyone for the input. I am going to do as many suggested and let her try a variety to see which one would be the best for her.
