Number 3 at Tennessee National is a 123 yard hole with an elevated green that slopes to the left (senior tee). I hit a 9 iron to the right side of the green. We all knew it was going to be close. However, since we couldn't actually see the entire pin, we didn't realize how close it actually was.
When approaching the green, the ball was nowhere to be seen. Therefore, we all thought it had rolled across the green and off the left side. I jokingly said to one of my playing partners to "look in the hole". I felt sure he was pulling my leg when he proclaimed with excitement that it was there. I then walked over looked down, and there it was....my Titleist with the black circle I use as my mark.
This was my first hole-in-one ever....hopefully, it won't be my last.
