Found a yellowish-green ball late yesterday, and ended up playing with it towards the round’s end (my white ball was getting harder to see.). It is a “Titleist VG3.” Perhaps it was an anomaly, but it seemed like it was at least 30 yards longer with my driver and ten-to-twenty yards longer with my 3W off tee(s) and not at all bad on touch shots. Typically find 20+ balls a week in my woods (along a golf course’s Par 5) and, as a consequence, I have hit just about every ball (including Titleist) or so I thought, but this is a new one on me.

I absolutely love this ball. Can’t find much info on the Internet beyond it was made for the Japanese market. Anyone else have experience with this ball? Doesn’t seem readily available beyond E-Bay. Any chance Titleist will market it in the USA? If not, is there another Titleist ball with similar characteristics that I may have missed over the years?

It has been around for a while and yes, it is exclusive to Japan but can be found around the world. Golfballs.com has been known to sometimes have them and the GranZ ball, another exclusive ball from Japan. They are pretty much comparable to Tour Soft and Tour Speed so do not look for them to be added to the regular USA lineup.

The distance was more likely your ball striking than the ball. If it was 30 yards longer than current ProVs, it wouldn’t be conforming. The VG3 has occasionally popped up on large retailers like Dick’s/GG from time to time, but Titleist won’t be rolling it out in the US.
Knowing how a ball performs does require consistent use. It is the only equipment you use on every stroke. Hard to master when the next ball you use is the last one you found.
Velocity would be a good choice to find distance. Any urethane covered ball is needed for the best green side performance. Short of Pro-V/AVX would be Tour Speed.

It's a Japanese market ball from several years ago. They would sporadically show up in some of the golf shops in my area, but I haven't seen any in several years. Try searching for them on-line and you may find some from at Asian market supplier.

I have seen them in golf shops in Myrtle Beach. Of course you can find most anything at the Beach, golf related.
