Titleist Survey Email

Good Morning,
Thank you for the post and good on you for being cautious. With that said, that email and survey did indeed come from us here at Titleist Canada. As the email mentions, Titleist is working with the USGA and R&A as it relates to the impact of distance on the game of golf and wants to understand real golfers perspectives.

The question regarding household income is simply a default demographic question that we ask in all of our surveys. The survey is anonymous so there is no way for Titleist to tie back the responses to the individual. Participants also had the choice to skip that question if they did not feel comfortable answering.

In saying all of that, the survey is now closed so retaking it won't be possible.

Thanks for the clarification Mitch. I just wanted to be cautious, some of these scams these days look real.

That didn't concern me at all. Household income is a pretty standard questions on every survey I've ever taken. I just select "Prefer not to say" and moved on to the next question. Pretty sure the questions stay the same regardless of your income.

I thought that the survey was good -- it asked some pertinent questions as it relates to the distance discussion. I think that in modern golf, the training, physical fitness, teaching techniques and more refined equipment (fittings and driver technology) has been the biggest changes to the distance equation. So, it was good to see these various aspects touched on in the survey.

It was an interesting survey for sure, I don't see how they can roll back what is already available. I do think the that the PGA game is getting a little boring to watch with most holes just a 300+ yard drive and a wedge now days. But I do think its a combo for factors, including instruction, training and flight monitors. I just wonder what it will do to the golf industry it self if you take away the R&D to produce a longer driver game.

I received it as well. What was disappointing was that I went back to that e-mail 2 days later to fill it out and the survey was closed. ️️

I also agree with Speedy that the income question did not bother me. You do have the option that you prefer not to answer. I was also thinking that perhaps they may wish to use the income level to balance out some of the other questions related to how much you would be willing to spend on balls or clubs that were designed for limited distance.
I was pleased to be able to offer my opinion on this question. Personally - I hope they don't do anything to the equipment or the balls to reduce distance travelled. I firmly believe they could simply make changes to the course layout if they want to address the issue. Narrow down the fairways in those areas, and thicken the rough so that it isn't bomb and wedge would be one good way to do that. There are many other options that I am sure we have all thought of which do not involve changing equipment and balls. Lord knows that many of us have invested a lot of money in Titleist Clubs and Balls to gain that extra distance particularly as we get older. I would hate to have to start all over and have to purchase new equipment that goes shorter !

I wasn't impressed to see they are trying to reduce distance. Leave the equipment as is.
At the PRO level they can make all the changes they want but let us amateurs be. The game is hard enough for us without putting limits on us.

I also think they should leave it as it. It's only a handful of guys that can really bomb it. The average driving distance on tour is around 290 which isn't that much. Some of us amateurs can crank those out once in a while. My furthest ever was 330. I've only ever driven over 300 twice in my life lol. The second one I hit a par 4 green that was 305.

Yeah I got this too. I completely agree with some posts above. There is no need to do anything with equipment. I say make the courses harder at the distances the pros are hitting too
