Okay - time for some self reflection.

As I watched Charley Hoffman with his GoLo 5 Scotty Cameron putter sinking putt after putt from 10 feet I was astounded. It was very impressive to see him make so many longer putts and in particular that last putt he made with the win on the line. There he was, 9'2" out knowing full well that making the putt would guarantee the win, and a two putt would mean going to a play off. After having had the lead after day three the previous week and failing to close the deal I can just imagine the added pressure. It was nice to see him sink the putt for the win. I am not sure who was more excited - Charley, or Billy Horsechel. Billy showed such great emotion in congratulating Charley on the win. A great display of friendship and sportsmanship !

Now to my original question... Is it just me ???

I purchased a Scotty GoLo5 last year and without a doubt, it has improved my putting stats considerably. However - my Scotty does not make that many 10 footers on such a regular basis. Okay, I do make a few longer putts, but certainly not the 1.58 putts per hole like Charley. So what do you think ? Do I perhaps have a defective putter? Or - should I give it another season for my Scotty to get in the groove ?

    LOL! You are hilarious Darius!
Here's something to try. Make sure that you get that Scotty accelerating through the putt, giving it a bit of "pop" and hold that finish, no recoil.
The 10 footers will get on and stay on line with consistent pace and you will see them start dropping more regularly.
    Hope that works for you.

Great post! I find since I put my Scotty (Newport 2) in the bag my putting has improved too. I think the single most important thing that will help you make more of those pesky 10 footers is practise! Practice rolling and stroking those 10 footers! Good luck this season Darius!

    Paztor, James, and Stephen...

It appears the common consensus is that it is likely me :)

Fair enough - I will work on practicing my stroke particularly on those longer putts. My biggest issue last year has been adjusting to different green speeds. My course has relatively fast greens and I spend most of my time playing and practicing there. Then I go out and join some friends on the weekends and play courses that have slower greens, and I find it difficult to get the ball to the whole.
James noted to try and accelerate more through the putt and perhaps that will be the secret.
Thanks for the tips and for pointing out the truth.
Hope you all have a great season !!!
