    Hey everyone,

Just wanted to try out my 1st new topic post! I'm curious as to what everyone does in their offseason. Do you like to get away? Stay busy? Play indoors? Play other sports?

I know as for myself, the golf season cannot start up again any sooner so I try and keep busy by playing some pickup hockey as much as possible (Rent-A-Goalie lol). Unfortunately I don't get much of a chance to play any golf in the winter months.

Anyway, TT members, how about yourselves?

Adam - congratulations on starting your first new topic post !

I did like to get away for the winter, but unfortunately my wife and I have had to put travelling onto the back burner for a few years. As such - given I do not play hockey or Curling, I keep active by going out for walks throughout the winter.

For golf - I have a 4' x 12' putting mat in the basement which following a discussion forum from last winter I refer to as my Basement Golf and Country Club :)

I spend a lot of time working on my putting and short chip shots through the winter. I also like to get out now and again to the "Launch" which is a heated outdoor driving range near Highway 7 and Highway 400. Another place to go is to the local Golf Town to hit some shots on their simulator. That is always good as I get a chance to try some different clubs and remember why I own Titleist products.

Last but not least, I watch a lot of golf on the Golf Channel through the winter.

I hit balls at my local range throughout the year. For me hitting balls, is a year round event.

I try to get away for a few days, and keep the swing in shape playing on indoor simulators.

Welcome to the forum. You are going to find a great bunch of guys and girls who are incredibly knowledgeable and incredibly helpful.

I usually make it away in the winter for a week of golf. This year it is Punta Cana in January. After that its the golf town simulators and putting in the basement.

Hope you enjoy your experience here on the forum.

Hi Adam - Welcome to the Forum!

Like you I don't get much chance to get away in the winter but I do join a Winter Golf School here in Ottawa.  The facility is pretty darn good with about 20 hitting stations, real sand bunker, and a 1500 sq ft putting green.  During the day (9:00 til 9:00) there are at least 3 teaching pros on hand to call on for advice, tips, drills etc.

As a real winter activity our Club has decided to open parts of the course to cross-country skiing this year so I think I will be giving that a try!!

    Congrats Adam,

I spend most of my "off" time working on this old body.  I hit the workouts harder, walk with a back pack to resemble the weight of my golf bag, etc.  I recently built an indoor putting green (not very large) to work on putting.  Here is our latest forecast for the upcoming couple of days.....in other words, we're about done...  Enjoy!!

Hi Adam! Welcome! In our family my husband plays on a mixed hockey team and my other hobby of growing tropical orchids becomes my main focus when I put my sticks away. I really don't like the cold so am always anxious for winter to be over so I can get back out there.

My circumstances have changed over the years. It used to be that where I was living, we experienced full winters so it was always hockey from August to March. However, since I have relocated to the greater Vancouver area (B.C.'s lower mainland) I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to play all year round as there is little or no snow.

Of course, on the rainy days (and there are lots of those), then I can go to the practice range and practice. I also, like others have mentioned, re-focus on my physical training, gym sessions, strength and core building with a TPI Certified Trainers, etc.

I find that this has been extremely beneficial to my physically and to my golf game. D

For myself it is playing in my rec hockey league and coaching my son's hockey team. Other than that i try to do indoor lessons at my home course and try to get out to the simulator once a month just for fun.

I don't care much for the off season. Last year I played a lot of simulator golf to keep the swing going. I'm sure I will again this off season. I also joined a gym for the first time in my life. But better yet I am taking a trip to Mexico. I have yet to play outside of Ontario and have never been that far south. So I thi it should be fun.

    Hi Adam:

I've been on Team Titleist for a while but don't post very often, and like you I'm down in the Niagara region.

I'm retired so I've got a lot of free time.  Last winter I volunteered to pick up balls at an indoor driving range, three times a week.  It's not really like work, but we dragged the balls into the centre and then scooped them up into a cart to be put away.

In return, I got to hit balls before "work".  The range is only 70 yards deep but you can hit all your clubs into the far net.

This year, spouse and I are heading to Florida for six weeks in Feb/Mar.  We've got a lot of friends from our club that go to the same place so will be getting out at least three times a week.

But with the weather we've been having got out 5 times last week.  Bonus

My off season is much like everyone else, Golftown simulator and basement putting. I have family in Atlanta so we try to visit them in the winter months and I'll get a few rounds in there. That's not until March this year though. Last year I played on Boxing Day and Dec 31. It was great.

    Hey everyone!

Thanks for the replies! Hopefully we can keep the thread going throughout the year.

Just wanted to say thank you very much Titleist for my TT Bag Tag and ball markers, it was a very pleasant surprise.

I wish everyone well on this special day of Remembrance.

In the winter I put a putting mat down in my golf den, and try to get to the golf dome here in Calgary once a week.

    Hi TT

I usually take time off til jan and then I start working on my swing with a coach. Hit balls at least once a week. I started yoga a few weeks back to help improve my core, flexibility, mobility and strength.

Just to add on to my previous post....I'm signing up with a personal trainer to keep up my fitness over the winter and be ready to play come spring. Hopefully that helps me get a good start to the season.
