I am a little surprised there isn't more buzz about Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott reaching #1 in the the Official World Golf Rankings. Personally I think it's great and would like to congratulate Adam, his play last year deserved a number one ranking.

Hope he plays well this weekend at Colonial to retain the #1 ranking as well. It's a tight grouping at the top of the rankings and a win by another highly ranked player could mean a change. It will be an interesting weekend for golf.

Agreed...  Adam has worked hard and played a lot of great golf to get where he is. Not sure why the news is not humming about his move to number 1 other than perhaps it came without having won on the week that it happened. Almost like he snuck into the spot while people weren't looking.

I agree that it will be interesting to see how many times the #1 spot changes over the summer.

Question:  Adam Scott and Jason Dufner had a 3 hole playoff at Colonial today.  (Congrats winner Adam Scott )   For the playoff which is actually match play,  do rules of match play or medal play come into effect???

It is actually sudden death stroke play for the playoff.

If both players hit their approach shots within 6 inches, they cannot say "good good" and go on to the next hole. Both players must hole out just as in regular stroke play. Albeit, if one player makes a birdie and the second player misses his birdie putt, he does not have to make his par putt after that as he has lost the hole and the sudden death playoff by not making his birdie.

    There are some exceptions:

The US Open plays 18 holes total stroke play and not sudden death for a playoff, and the PGA Championship recently played at the TPC Sawgrass uses an aggregate 3hole stroke play for the playoff before going to sudden death if the players are still tied.

    Hope that helps.

ok that makes sense... thanks ... I was wondering if one player would 'give' the other the shot +1 if very close to the hole.  obviously not!

As expected it was an exciting weekend in golf and we should be in for another good one with the Memorial this week. It was impressive that Scotty came out and put up a win in his first week as number one, although he is not the first to have done so. Awesome to see a couple of Titleist's top players in the playoff. Both played well and made it exciting.

As Darius mentioned he kind of fell into number one without playing but talk about asserting himself as number on with a win. Sign of a true champion!
